I Don’t Think I Can Make It

Every other sunday I help out in Childrens’ Church.  I usually run the lights/sound/computer/media stuff, and so for the majority of the service I’m back in the booth.  On this particular Sunday, a small child came up to me and told me, “I don’t think I can make it”.

He must have been about 6 years old because he was sitting in the K-1st grade area.  What

When I was in 1st grade I was home schooled. My mom was my teacher and one of the things she taught me was cursive. Because I was still learning to spell I practiced writing my name a bunch. The “Andrew” looked like my own style, but I always made my “Nemeth” look like my Mom’s. I never really noticed how feminin it looked until the

I went down to College Station to visit some good friends of mine. While there we attended “midnight yell”. That was inexperience. I’ve never seen so many people yell in unison. And afterwards trying to get out of Kyle stadium was nuts. It took 40 min.

College station is huge.

Bleach Fumes

Posted at

5:49 pm on 08/28/2008

This is what happens the day before room inspections: everyone pours bleach all over their rooms in hopes that it will clean a weeks worth of filth. (it typically doesn’t). Then innocnt bistanders become “influenced” by the fumes. Today, Zach came in close contact with some bleach fumes and it altered his behavior, arguably for the better.

I’m fairing well,

New Office

Love The Unloved moved into our new offices this week. It’s pretty rad, mainly because it’s 3x the size of our old office and we all get desks instead of couches. In addition my desk is furnished with a monitor, mouse, and keyboard so I have a whole docking station thing.

But despite all the “perks” (aka: an office) of working for LTUL I’m looking for

The experience was once in a lifetime [or at least this semester].

John “Baller” Haller spoke this evening.  I authentically enjoyed listening to him.  Sometimes I enjoy speakers because I know them personally and I appreciate them as a person, but I don’t actually like what they are saying or how they are saying it.  I don’t know Mr. Haller at all.  But I liked what he

Weekend Rap-Up [08.25.08]

This is a weekly segment that I have where I rap a summary of my weekend.  Here goes:

“On Friday I woke up and ran down to school,

Class was long but overall cool,

I was pretty hungry when I went to lunch,

I couldn’t wait for something to munch,

Drove to a coffee shop to get some work done,

The work I did was really fun,

Love The Unloved mobile web design,

It looks good now but it took some time,

Today as I was sitting in front of my computer looking for some web design work, the phone rang. “Unknown name. Unknown number” read the caller ID. My better judgement told me not to pick up, but being the spontaneous creature that I am I threw caution to the wind and said ‘hello’.

She was a young female with perhaps an African American heritage. Her words

It was 7:43am when Zach, Juddson, and I left our room and waited for the elevator. When it arrived we stepped on with a number of other guys, then at the 8th floor more people stepped on. Again at 6th floor some more people squeezed on until we had about 10 guys in one small elevator.

Just about all of us were going to the first floor because we needed to go to class. However,

Paradigm Lock-In

Posted at

11:14 pm on 08/20/2008

This evening Paradigm embarked on an all night adventure. A “lock-in” if you will. The plans are that after service we will load up into some busses and vans and then go to CiCi’s, an ice rink (to play broomball), and then to Alley Cats where we will stay until we return to the church at 6am on Thursday.

This first picture is us at CiCi’s.

Christian Hugs: A How-To Guide

Growing up in church I’ve learned that different times/situations warrant different styles of hugs.  This beginner’s guide to hugging will help you learn to appropriately hug during a specific setting.

My first example is when the welcoming pastor asks everyone in the congregation to mingle for a moment and give each other a “BEAR” hug.  To visitors or new converts this may sound like the pastor wants you to tightly and closely squeeze/embrace your neighbor, but this is

Opening Rally

Today at 2:30pm school began. Technically it was “opening rally” and not necesarilly “school”, but it felt the same regardless.

I won’t go into detail about the event, but I will apologize for not blogging the last two days. Last night I hung out with some people at Nate-James’ new pad. Cameron was there and he mentioned how disapponted he was that there was no new content on PN.

Tonight I’ll write a killer weekend

CFNI hosts a wonderful little retreat for all the new students. They call it the “Encounter” retreat.

I wasn’t sure what to think as 500 of us carpooled down to waxahachie to spend the night at the retreat, but the first session just ended and it was intense. It didn’t feel entirely applicable, but I understand that it’s not all about me. To further explain why I said the session was intense: they showed what

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to spot a home schooler? Now, allow me to brake away from my post and clarify “home schooler” for a moment: there are people that go to school at their house, and there are people that are ‘home schooled’. This post will comment on the latter.

As I was saying, you can spot a home schooler a mile away. They talk, walk, dress, and interact differently

I ate lunch and dinner here. The food was decent.
