Today as I was sitting in front of my computer looking for some web design work, the phone rang. “Unknown name. Unknown number” read the caller ID. My better judgement told me not to pick up, but being the spontaneous creature that I am I threw caution to the wind and said ‘hello’.
She was a young female with perhaps an African American heritage. Her words came clearly and her speech was sweat. She had me at, “Hello, I’m with Baumen Research Group, we’re conducting a brief survey. Is anyone in your family work in marketing, or for a pizza restursnt?”. I worked hard to muster a “no” that would impress. It must have worked because the chemistry was evident. Our conversation went on for 21 minutes. I felt like she was really getting to know me. We talked and talked, but then for whatever reason she stopped asking questions. She told me to have a nice day, but nothing about her love for me, she didn’t give me her number, she didn’t say she’d call again. As quick as she came into my life, she left.
I’m a hopeless romantic,
Andrew Nemeth
you’ll find another love.
