The experience was once in a lifetime [or at least this semester].
John “Baller” Haller spoke this evening. I authentically enjoyed listening to him. Sometimes I enjoy speakers because I know them personally and I appreciate them as a person, but I don’t actually like what they are saying or how they are saying it. I don’t know Mr. Haller at all. But I liked what he was saying.
He spoke on a number of things, or so it felt. He didn’t have an elegant 3 point sermon that I could easily take notes on. He just shared a couple of passages that he tied together with some story illustrations. I did scratch down things that he said that I felt were ‘note-worthy’. I also drew a recreation of Edward Hopper’s Night Hawks. Not because I was bored-mind you; but rather because I was feeling creative… and artsy.
I don’t have a scanner with me, other wise ya’ll would get to see my rendition. I guess you’ll have to wait until next time [or whenever I'm around a scanner].
In closing,
Andrew Nemeth
P.S. Here is the original Night Hawks painting.
