Hurricane Party

[Note: I don't mean to make light of a storm that left 100's-1000's homeless in the south/coastal area of Texas, I'm just telling you how it affected me]

It didn’t.

I thought there was going to be a pretty heavy storm.  I thought people were going to need to stay in doors, avoid the roads, stock up on bottled water.  I thought it was going to be bad.

It wasn’t.

Nathan was under a similar impression and so he orchestrated a movie day at his apartment.  The logic behind that was if people can’t drive during the storm then they’ll have to stay in.  What better to do when you stay inside then to watch movies with friends.  So that’s what we [Nate-James, Lauren R., Alan J., and myself] did, we had a movie watching party, or a “Hurricane Party” as we like to call it.

Nathan had ‘redbox’-ed Never Back Down, First Sunday, and The Forbidden Kingodm.  They were pretty good movies, especially Never Back Down, that one really made you want to stand up and fight.

Alan and I got there at noon and were expecting the worst part of the storm to hit anytime between 1-5pm.  At 7pm when the whole group of us decided to go grocery shopping [apple pie and ice cream] it still hadn’t done much more than a light rain.  While we were out the rain got mildly bad, but then it soon quieted down after that.

Overall I was disappointed, not because I wanted there to be any damage, but because I wanted a reason to waste my day just feeling lazy and relaxing, as opposed to know feeling like I wasn’t productive when I could/should have been.

Oh well, the party was off the chain,

Andrew Nemeth

P.S. I had gotten this free poncho the night before at the Plano Centre, and that think I’m holding in my hand is a glow stick that Alan picked up at Dollar Tree.
