“She’s Calling The Cops!”

Last night [Friday, the 24th] was Taylor H.’s BDay party.  We went to Nandina’s off of Greenville Ave and had some delicious sushi.  She opened her gifts and we sang “Sweet Dreams” [by the Eurythmics].  Surprisingly I don’t recall us ever singing “Happy Birthday”.

I made a mix-tape [CD] for the occasion and on our way to the restaurant myself, Taylor H, Angela J, Ashley L, Brandi, and Rachel M, squeezed into my 5 seater car and let the music carry us away.  With everything from TI to the Footloose soundtrack I was amazed to see what kind of dance moves one could muster while in such a tight space.

As we were leaving the restaurant there was an Impala parked by the door blaring some rap music.  We danced for a brief moment until we noticed the driver–only a few feet away–staring at us.  We proceeded to walk to our cars.  Now, for those that don’t frequent Greenville Ave you must understand that the only parking near anything is valet.  Cheap college kids don’t like valet, and I’m not afraid of a little exercise. So rather than paying to park close, we go down two blocks to a neighborhood and park in front of some residentials for free.

It was there that the party was taken to a whole new level.  I opened up my car and pumped the mix-tape.  In the middle of the street we started a dance party.  There was a sense of reserve and caution because we were parked in front of some lady’s house and she kept coming to the window to see what all the racket was.  After the 4th song she came to the window on a phone this time, she looked displeased.

“She’s calling the cops!”

No one could know for sure, but it was more than enough reason to jump in our cars and take off.  10 minutes of intense car-dancing later we arrived at CFNI.  In the parking lot of the CC I again opened all the doors of my car and we jumped out and danced around.  The dancing lasted so long that I “kicked off my sunday shoes” and Taylor tore holes in her stockings, even Brandi opened up.

The night was so intense that this morning when I woke up I felt like I had fallen down a flight of stairs.  Another party tonight, I’ll try and snap some more pics.
