Get Your Act Together

Last night I went with Juddson, Zach, and Trish to Fuel City Tacos.  They have the best tacos in Dallas.  Its just my opinion, but its true.

Before I was able to enjoy my delicious tacos, however, I encountered a large black man by the name of Eddie.  Here’s how it went down:

I approached the window and said to the taco stand liaison that I would like 2 Barbacoa, 2 Beef Fajita, and 1 Chicken Fajita; all on flour with everything on them.  He took my money and passed the order on to the cooks.

Minutes later as I and a lone women stood waiting near the taco window he pulled the sliding glass window aside and said “Eddie”.  I wasn’t thinking clearly and thought, in the moment, that he was saying “Andy” which is short for “Andrew”.  And seeing that the only other person there to pick up tacos was a lady [who didn't make a move at the liaison's call] I approached the window and picked up “Eddie’s” tacos.

Moments later as I waited for Juddson, Zach, and Trish to get their order the taco liaison called out, “Andrew”.  In the time between him calling out “Eddie” and “Andrew” a couple other people had shown up, including a large black man.

I quickly looked in my bag to notice that those were not my tacos.  I held up the bag and said, “Eddie?”.  The large black man turned to me as I said, “I think I have your tacos.  I didn’t touch them though,”

“You better not have” he said as he grabbed the bag from my hands.

A nice lady [who was almost as big as he was] stepped in to say, “No, mister, I saw him, he just set them there tacos up on the hood of his truck and sat a-waitin’.  He didn’t touch none of ‘em”

She turned to me and said, “You have a nice evenin’” As I grabbed my rightful bag of tacos from the liaison, and then scurried away to the car.

Before leaving, the gruff black man turned to the liaison and said, “Get your act together”.  In a stern harsh voice.

I’m glad he didn’t eat me.

  2. I thought the African American community as a whole were in a pretty cheery mood due to the fact Mr. Obama was elected. Maybe he voted for McCain.

  3. I wouldn’t expect a person who eats from a streetside taco stand in oakliff to have manners anyway.
