I was framed yesterday for a crime I did not commit.
Yesterday my computer alerted me that my login information for my email address wasn’t working right. As I investigated the problem I found that the email login wasn’t working because my email account was frozen. I then checked PN to find that my web host had suspended my account.
If you’ve been following PN from its humble beginning you’ll know that I’ve gotten in trouble before with my host, but this time was different. I hadn’t done anything. So I called HostMonster and the nice tech support agent who took my call asked for my domain name. When I told her “Project Nemeth” and she pulled up my info she said, “Oh, I’m going to have to transfer you to ‘Abuse’”.
There I found out that someone had acquired my password and had installed a Phishing site on Project Nemeth. Phishing is the term used to describe a site that pretends to be another site, and in this particular case it was a bogus site pretending to be Bank of America, and asking people for all sorts of personal information.
Phishing is a federal offense. People go to prison for it. Granted, I didn’t do anything; but the bad guys used my account to do their dirty work. And since I’ve been suspended twice before, I’m now flagged and have a “record”.
It was enough excitement to break up the hum-drum of my day, I just hope nothing like that happens again.

You should also aim to get in trouble with the law a lil’ less. But I must admit, you rebel-rowsers certainly are admired by the young folk.
