Car Wash

It was freezing today. I don’t know why I decided to wash my car today, but I did.

What had happened was a while back when Dallas had a big freeze the raid people put salt and sand out for traction and stuff. It got over my car and made a mess. Finally I found the extra time today to wash my car… Twice.

I was running ahead of schedule for a lunch appointment and I remembered there was a car wash close by (the kind that takes the quarters). So I went and decided to wash the junk off my car. 7 quarters and 3 minutes (in the cold) later I had my car looking awesome. It just needed to dry.

I went to lunch and while talking to Zach I mentioned that I had washed my car. He peeked out of the window where I was parked and said, “It looks like crap”. I looked out too and noticed all the dirt was still on the sides of my car.

I assume that when I got it wet it appeared clean but as it dried the dirt became more noticeable. So after lunch we went back to clean it again. This time I scrubbed extra hard and was sure it was clean. It quickly dried and when it did I noticed that it was still dirty.

I’m told in order to get that stuff off I’ll have to use hot water and a lot of elbo grease.

P.S. The foam brush kept spitting out incredibe amounts of foam soap.

  1. Yeah, those foam brushes are ridiculous. Once you pop (the quarter in), the foam don’t stop.

    It’s spelled “elbow grease”.

Side note: I still haven’t taken my car to a car wash since I’ve had it. That’s around ten months straight.

  4. My mom has had her car going on eight years, and I can count on one hand the number of times it has been washed (five, actually!) This summer we washed it before Brett’s return from China. I can honestly say that I was bucket loads more excited about getting the car washed than I was for Christmas this year. This post reminded me of those joyous feelings. I think I might wash the car later : )
Good stuff, Andrew. Thanks also for the blog comment.
