Convenient

Ridge Rd.

The other day I was selected to perform Jury Duty in Rockwall.  I was actually a little excited about the opportunity, but it came at an inconvenient time.  I’m a full time student and work in the evenings, so the court and my schedule just wasn’t going to work out.  Fortunately all I had to do was mark on my Juror Summons Card that I’m a full time student and mail it back, then they would dismiss me.

I say, “Fortunately all…” because I assumed mailing a card would be easy.  However, I submit that it is not.  First off, I don’t have any stamps.  And that shouldn’t seem like a big problem, because if you’re a normal person you can just go to the post office and buy a stamp, then mail your card.  Boom! Roasted.

Not so for Andrew Nemeth, no, I live one exit down from the Dallas post office, but felt it would be more convenient to wait until I was in Rockwall and go to that one.  Its more familiar.

Unfortunately, I’m a wee bit forgetful.  So twice when I was in Rockwall I forgot to go by the post office.  Finally, I remember yesterday after leaving work.

As I drove to the post office I encountered a lot of traffic.  Sitting at a stand still on 740 [aka: Ridge Rd.] I noticed that the address on my card said, “1101 Ridge Rd.”  [the road I was on].  So I started looking around and noticed that the building I was supposed to mail this to was 50 yards in front of me.  I quickly signaled my turn and pulled into Rockwall Municipal something-or-another building.  I walked in and the helpful security guards pointed me in the right direction.

5 min. later I was on my way to Starbucks glad that I didn’t have to sit in traffic, or the line at the post office.

That’s convenient,

Andrew Nemeth
