Jenni and I went to have dinner with Spring and Kelly at their apartment last night. We had a delicious meal of grilled chicken and vegetables and passed the time talking the night away. Jenni and I said our goodbyes around 9:30, and in my mind the evening was winding down, but little did I realize that it was only just beginning.
As we walked to the visitor parking to get in our cars [she was parked next to me] Jenni interrupted me mid-sentance to exclaim, “My car is gone!”.
We continued to walk towards the empty parking spot until we stood where she last left her car. My immediate thought of “Maybe she forgot where she parked” was replaced by the vivid memory of her backing in next to my car. She had certainly parked her car in the spot where we stood, but it was not there now.
Without getting hysterical we made our way back to Spring’s apartment, partially because she is a lawyer and mostly because I had no idea what to do. Spring followed us to where we had parked, upon seeing the empty parking space where Jenni’s car stood she called the towing company that services the apartment complex.
They had in fact towed a car from her complex that evening but they weren’t sure if it was Jenni’s car. We were told to call back in 10 minutes after it had been processed. When we called back Billy helped us ID the car as Jenni’s. Immediately we left for the impound lot to bail out her car.
When we got there Spring went into “lawyer mode” and not only got Jenni’s car back but was confident that her apartment complex is going to refund the $145 it took to get the car back.
I didn’t get home until after midnight. It was a very eventful evening.
