Surf Side, TX

surf-side

Paradigm took a trip to Surf Side, TX in lieu of  a more traditional spring retreat this year.  It was a lot of fun.  We had rented three beach houses that were amazing.  The guys house had almost 40 guys packed in it.  We had to sleep all over the place, on the beds, on the floor, even out on the balcony.  But I don’t think there was a single complaint about it, everyone was so glad to be there.

Saturday we spent almost the whole day on the beach.  I wish I could have had more pictures of some of the games we did and the fun we had.  But it was too much craziness for my camera [aka: phone].  Aaron “Mr. Intensity” Money had planned a serious of games to play in a relay style competition between the small groups.  It was c-razy.

It began with a sand castle building competition.  Wasn’t really my forte but we had good participation, so that was good.  The excitement really began when we had a tug-a-war competition.  Juddson and Zach had dug out a pit and some of the leaders filled it with all sorts of junk: red soda, oatmeal, sea water, flour, and I don’t even know what else.  The point of this was to create a pit for the losing tug-a-war team to fall into.  It also made loosing a lot worse.

My team won our first match but last our second match to the Jr. High team.  After that we went into the relay race thing.  There was a disc throwing station, then egg toss, then bubble gum/whipped cream table, followed by a shaving cream ballon, then lastly the sea-water bucket.

That may sound vague but its hard to explain the raw intensity of such an activity without writing a full novel.

The trip was great,

Andrew Nemeth
