So here’s the deal. Me and Chase bank aren’t on speaking terms. There’s some drama going down.

The other day I tried to take my coins [around $600±] to Chase bank to deposit into my account. Before I did, because these jars are heavy and I didn’t want to cary them to the bank without knowing they’d accept them, I decided to call ahead and make sure everything would be cool.

On the phone I spoke with Vicky who said they accept loose change, but that there is a 1% processing fee and it takes about two days to hit my bank account. I said that was fine and headed that way.

After struggling to transport my thousands of coins to the bank I finally get inside and the manager comes up to me and tells me that the coins have to be rolled. I explain that its ok, and that I already called ahead and Vicky said they didn’t have to be.

He just looked at me blankly and said, “The coins have to be rolled”.

We had a small exchange with some spirited words, but it ultimately ended with him sending me to the grocery store up the street.

I was so upset that the bank wouldn’t take my money but the grocery store would.

Fail.

  1. and the only way to get around a bigger processing fee is if u put the money on a gift card right? thats how it used to be

  2. If you eat the loose change, you’ll always be met with a reward when you take care of business.

  7. @marty. Sorry about the black-on-black links, I still have some bugs to work out with my css.

But on the bright side, you were my 1000th comment on PN. [not counting spam]. So that’s cool.

  8. @anthony you’re right about the gift card thing. I gave myself a nice gift card to iTunes and to Starbucks.
